Confirm which district rule applies
Ken-Caryl Ranch Water & Sanitation assigns the customer responsibility for the water service line from the district main to the service location. That is different from simply assuming the property line marks every maintenance boundary. Confirm that the property is a district customer.
Report water near the main or a suspected connection problem to the district. A private leak inquiry does not authorize someone to operate district equipment or work at a main without coordination.

Describe the route and the surface conditions
Give the position of the building entry, known stop box and visible wet area. Include paving, driveways or a shared verge along the suspected route. If the pipe alignment is uncertain, say so; the straightest line between two points is only a guess.
Stay away from undermined paving and soft ground. Do not uncover a pipe to help the investigation. Existing photographs, plans and repair records are safer starting evidence.
Protect access without operating the valve
The district asks customers to keep the stop box accessible. Identify obstructions such as landscaping or a locked gate, and arrange access with the property owner. An accessible box still needs the correct person to operate it.
If repair reaches a county right-of-way or easement, Jefferson County’s permit process may apply. Check the actual jurisdiction and affected land rather than using the Littleton mailing name to decide.
Review the whole repair boundary
Ask who will coordinate a utility shutoff, obtain required locates and confirm private lines. A location mark, excavation, connection repair and surface restoration should each have an agreed responsibility. Call us with the address and district details to confirm the initial investigation before a larger repair is authorized.
